Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground! For your name's sake, O Lord, preserve my life! In your righteousness bring my soul out of trouble! And in your steadfast love you will cut off my enemies, and you will destroy all the adversaries of my soul, for I am your servant.Fortune favours the bold, Fortune favours the brave and Fortune favours the strong are common translations of a Latin proverb. Deliver me from my enemies, O Lord! I have fled to you for refuge. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Selah Answer me quickly, O Lord! My spirit fails! Hide not your face from me, lest I be like those who go down to the pit. I stretch out my hands to you my soul thirsts for you like a parched land.

I remember the days of old I meditate on all that you have done I ponder the work of your hands. Therefore my spirit faints within me my heart within me is appalled. For the enemy has pursued my soul he has crushed my life to the ground he has made me sit in darkness like those long dead. Hear my prayer, O Lord give ear to my pleas for mercy! In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness! Enter not into judgment with your servant, for no one living is righteous before you. Psalm 143 | English Standard Version (ESV)Ī Psalm of David. From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force. Matthew 11:12 | English Standard Version (ESV) Indeed, the violent take the Kingdom of Heaven by force, and fortune favors the brave, for these shall be rewarded for their efforts in the Kingdom. The brave are those who, when all has gone black, and there seems to be no light, no good, no God, when the wicked seem to prosper and the righteous are destroyed, recall and keep seeking God, trusting in His goodness. The brave are even those pious souls who, having entered the married life in this world, strive to direct all things in their families towards God, strive to preserve light in their hearts in a world that has gone dark, strive to keep a firm focus on God when distractions assault from every side, strive to love and serve their families and their neighbors with selfless love. The brave are those select few monastics who enter the hermetic life, the special forces who go off alone, to further flee any distraction from God, who, in their cells, delve into the human soul, and, there, do battle with the devil, and, there, find either God or madness. And, in their monasteries, they stand as a regiment of ascetics, rebuking the excesses of our worldly life, interceding before God on our behalf, and doing battle with the devil in prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Who leave behind the cares and worries of this world, so that they my devote themselves, body and soul, in the service of the King. The brave are those who leave the world and enter the monastic life. The "brave" would be those who bravely stand against their passions, their vices, their sins, who bravely practice the virtues, who bravely stand in prayer before God, pleading on behalf of themselves and the whole world. I would say this phrase can be very related to Christianity.
